Mattatall Signs helps give Halifax Shopping Centre a major facelift [SUMMER 2007]

In 2007, 20 Vic Management of Toronto set in motion the process of renovating their flagship retail property in the HRM, Halifax Shopping Centre. To design and manage the project they turned to the award winning Montreal firm GHA Shoppingscapes, whose experience and vision successfully transformed both interior and exterior of the property into a sophisticated and progressive shopping environment. An integral part of this program was the exterior signage manufactured and installed by Mattatall Sign Limited.

The unique challenge posed by this project was the necessity to recreate in the real world the unique and unconventional designs provided by GHA within the limits of a fixed budget. As part of a total building renovation scheme, the signs

themselves had to project a high-end image without committing resources that could be better spent on the centre's interior. This is where Mattatall Signs Limited came through - producing products that were simply constructed but ingeniously devised, using quality yet affordable substrates to get the job done.

An interesting feature of GHA's design for the entrance point pylon signs was the 3 sided, seamlessly illuminated columns - a seemingly impossible item to build. Mattatall Signs' solution rendered the
effect exactly as the designer envisioned it, using common materials.
